For one thing, it is close to several other places that I found to be very interesting when I travelled to there:
Huacachina Lagoon - Not too far away from Nazca is this desert oasis, which is surrounded by tall sand dunes. You can do sandboarding, as well as being driven around dunes in the buggies. Paracas National Reserve - Along the coast is this park and the Ballestas Islands - home of thousands of migratory birds, who share their habitat with a large number of sea lions and penguins. Several nice resorts have been built in this area of sun and sea. |
Ica - in this province you can find the wineries that make Pisco, used in making Pisco Sours, the national drinks of Peru and Chile. The oldest distillery in the Americas was started here in 1684, Hacienda La Caravedo. I visited 3 different wineries when I was there and sampled 11 different piscos. After my last one, my guide jokingly said "now it's time to take you to a karaoke bar". |
