South America is our specialty and has been for over 20 years. We meet with local operators every year - either at conferences or when they stop by our office, and we travel to South America every year.
It was kind of interesting last month when we were going to the closing ceremony at our annual conference, which happened to be in Ecuador this year. I was talking to a guy who handed me his card and I realized that I had visited his office on my first trip to Ecuador, about 28 years ago. How things have changed since then!
So, who do you think is better equipped and has more knowledge about where you want to go? Who can give you the best advice and provide you with the most options? There are some large companies that specialize in South America, but they can have a large turnover of agents, so you might deal with one who is new or not very experienced.
